I think it would be really helpful to have tools we can use to not only compare model forecasts with each other, as we already can, but to also compare the past predictions with what the true weather turned out to be. In my case, even though ECMWF seems to be the more "highly respected" model, I have subjectively noticed that GFS seems to have generally more accurate in the particular area I usually sail in. I can't confirm this intuitive observation with data, though, and that's what I'd like to be able to do.

What I'd like to be able to do is pick a location and a time/date and see what the actual recorded weather conditions were vs. the forecasts 1, 3, 5, and 7 days prior. Some limitations to save storage would be perfectly understandable. E.g. perhaps a max of 90 days of past data, with decreasing resolution further back in that window, Round Robin Database-style.

This data might be useful to Windy.com, as well. Patterns might emerge over time where you could provide heatmaps of which models tend to be accurate more often in specific regions. That additional guidance would be a great value-add for users.

The feature Forecast vs observation. is already available in Windy.
Select Reported wind or Reported temperature to choose a weather station in your area. It is better to choose a professional weather station, wmo or ad (airport) labelled.
Then you can compare the model predictions during the last days and the weather station observations:
