@Ondřej-Šutera looks like it works with the latest update, thank you. But three dot button in the widget top right isn't clickable now.

@antsyferov my widget has been updating for 2 days and is using a lot of battery. Think I will delete the app until they get it fixed.

@antsyferov Unfortunately, this can be affected by version of SW in mobile device and SW from the manufacturer.

@soami Hi. We are aware of this issue on Android 14 beta. The crash is caused by a third party library. We are working on the solution.

Hello there, same problem for me.
I was running Windy version 38.x on a Sony XPeria 1 V on Android 13 using Nova Launcher and everything was working fine. The widgets got the location and refreshed fine.
After updating to 39.1.4 the widgets show the reported behavior:

                    • Widgets don't refresh any more
                    • Manual refresh works
                    • I see a notification that the Windy widget is updating which lasts for hours
                    • The Sony launcher is constantly showing me Windy as an actively running app

The following I did according to your suggestions in this thread:

                    • Ensured Windy has permission to show notifications
                    • Ensured Windy has permission to always access the location
                    • Ensured Windy is not optimized with regards to power consumption
                    • Ensured Windy has permission to access data in the background
                    • Ensured that android does not remove permissions for Windy by itself or susped the app if not used
                    • Force stopped Windy and cleared the cache
                    • Deleted the widgets and added them again
                    • Reinstalled the whole app

                    Nothing helped, same behavior.

In between there was NO change of my phone. No Android update, no update to Nova, no change of settings. Just the update from Windy 38.x to 39.1.4

We have a second XPeria 1 V with an identical setup but using the free version without login, same problem, so that makes no difference.

@Ondřej-Šutera I tried, nothing worked, the widgets didn't work and kept loading, and long-pressing the house icon didn't position me

@spike-2 Do you have problem with widgets? The screenshot is from the app not the widget. Do you have the latest version of Windy and do you reset your widgets, according to steps above?

@TritonYung Which widgets don't work, did you try to reset them after the update, which means complete removing of them and adding new ones?
Also which version of Windy do you have?

@thomasn-1 Thank you for reporting this with your extensive description, we still have issues with replicating the behavior. However, we will try to do our best to investigate and fix this. Thank you for your patience.

                                @Ondřej-Šutera hi,

I meanwhile can be a bit more precise.
After first doing the update to 39.1.4 the widgets stopped working. So e.g. on the next day, the widgets were still showing the previous day. After removing the widgets, force stopping Windy, clearing the cache and re-adding the widgets, they once loaded data, then stopped refreshing, so after many hours I still saw the data from the moment I re-added the widget.

Today I uninstalled Windy, reinstalled and setup everything freshly, including to take care of all permissions being set as reported.
I can now tell that initially it looked like the widgets are not refreshing but that's wrong.
I can now see, that they refresh roughly every 1-2 hours which is a loooot longer than previously, so I thought it does not update at all.
Previously I could see that the weather radar widget was usually maximum 10-15 minutes behind, now it's sometimes 1h+

So all in all after reinstalling the app the widgets seem to have a very long refresh cycle.
Permission for notifications I switched off, since the notification about the widget refreshing just persistently stayed until I manually discarded it.

I would prefer getting back the previous behavior, where the widget updated roughly every 10-15 minutes, that was perfectly fine with me, also regarding energy consumption.

Please let me know if there are additional things I can try out to help you tracking down the root cause.

                                Best Regards,
                                Thomas

@TritonYung We are working on exploring the issue now, since we want to try to find out how exactly this works, since the issue is not on all devices.

                                      Update from my side:
While yesterday after reinstalling the app the widgets updates roughly every 1-2 hours during the day, today it stays stuck at 23:00 German time yesterday since meanwhile 5 hours.

The current temperature on the widget doesn't update after the recent update (Windy 39.1.4) on Xiaomi 12X, Android 13. Perhaps more details will help:

                                        1. Pressing 3 dots and "Refresh widget" does not update it
                                        2. Pressing 3 dots and "Settings", changing the Forecast model and "Add widget" updates the forecast, but not the current temperature
                                        3. Removing the widget and adding the widget again updates everything.

There's one interesting addition to it: when you change location, then manually refresh it, the widget updates successfully. It's not successful when you don't change location. Seems like a weird caching issue to me. Really frustrating. (Android 8)
