@spike-2 Do you have problem with widgets? The screenshot is from the app not the widget. Do you have the latest version of Windy and do you reset your widgets, according to steps above?
@TritonYung Which widgets don't work, did you try to reset them after the update, which means complete removing of them and adding new ones?
Also which version of Windy do you have?@thomasn-1 Thank you for reporting this with your extensive description, we still have issues with replicating the behavior. However, we will try to do our best to investigate and fix this. Thank you for your patience.

@Ondřej-Šutera v39 ,Nothing's going on except the webcam. It's pitch black,All re-added after the update and other measures you mentioned have no effect. But it was normal before the update

@Ondřej-Šutera hi,
I meanwhile can be a bit more precise.
After first doing the update to 39.1.4 the widgets stopped working. So e.g. on the next day, the widgets were still showing the previous day. After removing the widgets, force stopping Windy, clearing the cache and re-adding the widgets, they once loaded data, then stopped refreshing, so after many hours I still saw the data from the moment I re-added the widget.Today I uninstalled Windy, reinstalled and setup everything freshly, including to take care of all permissions being set as reported.
I can now tell that initially it looked like the widgets are not refreshing but that's wrong.
I can now see, that they refresh roughly every 1-2 hours which is a loooot longer than previously, so I thought it does not update at all.
Previously I could see that the weather radar widget was usually maximum 10-15 minutes behind, now it's sometimes 1h+So all in all after reinstalling the app the widgets seem to have a very long refresh cycle.
Permission for notifications I switched off, since the notification about the widget refreshing just persistently stayed until I manually discarded it.I would prefer getting back the previous behavior, where the widget updated roughly every 10-15 minutes, that was perfectly fine with me, also regarding energy consumption.
Please let me know if there are additional things I can try out to help you tracking down the root cause.
Best Regards,

@Ondřej-Šutera
hi,When can we solve this problem -
@TritonYung We are working on exploring the issue now, since we want to try to find out how exactly this works, since the issue is not on all devices.
-
@Ondřej-Šutera
Update from my side:
While yesterday after reinstalling the app the widgets updates roughly every 1-2 hours during the day, today it stays stuck at 23:00 German time yesterday since meanwhile 5 hours. -
The current temperature on the widget doesn't update after the recent update (Windy 39.1.4) on Xiaomi 12X, Android 13. Perhaps more details will help:
- Pressing 3 dots and "Refresh widget" does not update it
- Pressing 3 dots and "Settings", changing the Forecast model and "Add widget" updates the forecast, but not the current temperature
- Removing the widget and adding the widget again updates everything.
-
@Anton-Mellit Thank you for some extra detail about this issue.
-
There's one interesting addition to it: when you change location, then manually refresh it, the widget updates successfully. It's not successful when you don't change location. Seems like a weird caching issue to me. Really frustrating. (Android 8)
-
Same issue on pixel 4a android 13. It's just black now. Changing location and settings does nothing. It's even uneffected by a theme change.
Wish I could rollback. -
Similar problem.
Widget type (the first to choose)Biggest problem is, that location circle in left upper corner is still rotating .
Location is allowed for windy appMinor problems.
- 3 dot doesnt react, i cant open it
- when i choose white widget it make black widget, but after hour, or phone restart the widget gets white
Android 9, Lineage OS 16, Redmi Note 4

@Ondřej-Šutera, thank you for the response on this. Experiencing the same trouble with the widget ever since v39.x was released a few weeks ago. The widget is blank with a persistent notification of it attempting to refresh data.
I have removed the app, restarted, and installed the latest version. Also tried the instructions above. I'm running eOS "S" \ Android 12.

@madjoe Same on Android 13

@Ondřej-Šutera
Enabling notifications solved the widget issue on Lenovo tablet 👍 -
On my Sony XPeria 1 V running Android 13 the widgets are currently running so so.
There was an update for Windy which I installed which didn‘t change the version number, so it‘s still 39.1.4
The weather radar widget is currently updating most of the time, but often is around an hour behind.
With version 38.x I was used to a maximum of 10-15 minutes, so pretty up to date.
One time the widget didn‘t refresh at all and I had to do it manually.
As always after an update I force stopped the app, cleared the cache and re-setup the widgets.
All permissions are granted, also notifications.
This is still not optimal. The weather radar should not be that far behind in time and it should consistently update and not get stuck sometimes.
I hope you can sort out what‘s happening here.

@thomasn-1 Hi. The widgets are not designed to update every 10-15 minutes. The operating system restricts widget updates so 1 hour updates are completely normal.
-
@MarkNagy thats clear to me and it wouldn’t make sense to update these widgets every 10 minutes while not looking at them but then the widgets must have been quicker to update once I activate the phone screen than they are now because with 38.x as written when checking the weather radar, it was usually a maximum of 10-15 behind while now, I often see 1h+
Just switched on my phone, it‘s 21:52 already on the lock screen I see a notification from Windy that it‘s updating the widget which is 31 minutes old and the weather radar shows a timestamp of 16:05 and the spinning circle in the top left corner.
This is clearly still not working.BTW
I‘m also using the weather app of the German Weather Service and their widgets work just fine. The weather radar always shows me a situation which is not older than 10-15 minutes once I wakeup the phone and check the display.
Unfortunately this only works for Germany and I prefer the Windy widgets off course especially when travelling so I hope that will be sorted out. -
Next update fixed it. At least for me. Thanks
