Route planning for boats
-
Route planning seems to show totally different wind forecasts than the forecast shown for the exact timeframe just using a typical wind forecast. I've made sure both are set to use the ECMWF model.
Just looking at 9pm winds for Sunday 07/23 The route planner's wind forecast show winds from the east.... regular forecast pulled at the same time for the same time period shows winds from just east of south. And, when scrolling through the routes time line on the route planner... the animated winds depicted have no absolutely no relationship to the forecast winds.
Any advice is appreciated.

Only roughly 3 days can be forecasted with reasonable precision. The fourth day will see a small difference. It will be much more wrong on the sixth day. We could have accurate forecasts if we could track every molecule on the earth, as my meteorology professor used to say. Small areas of the atmosphere can now be observed. Oceanic currents and the earth's core are two more processes that must be understood because they influence the weather. Approximately two thirds of the puzzle are missing. Thus, the dire predictions. Hope this helps answer your question.

Your explanation does not answer the question of @TvZ-0.
See my reply to understand the issue.
It is a fact that after 5 days the forecast accuracy becomes worse.
But the question was even concerning the first day !
