Windy 39 is here. Learn how to masterclass new features

You just need to tap the screen to see the model displayed in top left corner.
But if the ECMWF model is the used one, nothing is displayed. This means it is the default model. -
@idefix37 nice !

This will take a bit of getting used to on a Pixel5.
Really nice enhancements - got 'em all set up like I want in minutes.
Thanks for making this app even more useful and valuable! -
I would want a label for the current model I'm using, such as GFS, to be added when I hit the House symbol in the week forecast so I can immediately identify which model I'm in.
Change is difficult, and I believe you set the bar higher with the apps' functionality. Excellent work -
@kelseyradley
The model label is shown in the top window, except that of the default model. -
I found the loss of the flag with continuing weather data so upsetting that I cancelled my subscription.
Hope it returns - I liked the small flag with wind speed based on my destination.

@ianplumlee couldn't agree more as a UX dev!
The app was great, but with this massive amount of change not only seems to have flumaxed a lot of old time users, but also introduced bugs and asked the whole app down to boot!Along side this, the app is so buggy (specifically with this new picker), it won't even give the correct forecast values, which makes it completely untrustworthy!
Was there ANY (UX user, QA, beta) testing done for this? As a project manager I wouldn't have let the release happen...
This is really disappointing as this was a favourite of mine, and as a subscriber I feel let down 😢

I’ll share some thoughts below having used version 39 for over a month. For background I have used Windy since 2019 and I have thought that each previous update was an improvement until version 39, which appears to me to be trying to increase visual appeal, while losing some functionality.
• Gallery view with images of all of the layers is clunky. It takes longer to find the layer I want to view, even with my favourites pinned. It would be great to have the option to opt for the nested menu as found on the web version.
• Crosshairs: I like the flag as the information I want to see, such as wind speed/direction or temperature, etc is easily visible while also looking at the map. This allowed me to set the timeline running and see the value of the point of interest while also seeing the area trend in colour on the background map. With the cross hairs, the information I want is at the top of the screen, while the timeline is at the bottom, and the map is in the middle. I find that my eyes are constantly shifting between the top, bottom and middle of the screen to pick up the information I want. I miss information with the constant eye movement. I understand that the crosshairs are designed to encompass more functionality than the flag, however could an overlay of the pertinent information (ex. Windspeed and direction, temperature, etc.) be added beside the crosshairs, like a Heads-Up-Display, rather than the bar at the top of the screen?
• Ability to unlock the crosshairs from the centre of the screen. I understand this was also the case with the previous version of the flag on the mobile app, but it would be great to have a button to unlock the crosshairs and move it to another location on the screen. For example, I am interested in a point of interest, but also want to see the weather along the coast to the west that is heading my way with the weather system. I could unlock the cross hairs, and move them to the right side of the screen to allow me to see more of the map to the west.
Thanks for taking user feedback into consideration.
