Windy 39 is here. Learn how to masterclass new features

@Flachkurbler exactly. You said what I wanted to add to my comments. Very easy to use - when you spend 2 weeks learning it, buy a new powerful phone that is dedicated only to this app so no lagging, or maybe a big tablet instead - to accommodate for unnecessary big icons on menu, and get used to all awkwardness. Very easy. Thank you! It is only us, uneducated users without master class diploma who can't appreciate this marvel. Easier still is to look for another, friendlier app.

@Holoboss such as what? There really aren't that many apps of this calibre out there. That's why I'm devastated by the failure of the app I'm Android 14 beta 4.

@David-Polášek
I love this app. One small request. Really enjoy the haptic and sound effect for lightening. Unfortunately it seems to to be a hit and miss function. It works inconsistently and infrequently. Would really like it to work consistently when there is quite a bit of activity underway. I have a lot of summer lightening in the mountains where I live. I see the little arrows, but rarely the accompanying sound and haptic. Thank you. -
Hi great interface
Jst a suggestion if we could get a feature to see METAR and TAF of airports enroute on click within given features.
Thanks
-
@David-Polášek I really like this new update. But I wanted to give you a tip. It could be able to see not only the temperature but also the Thermal Sensation.

@David-Polášek the app and the website in general became very powerful and more and more useful. I love windy.
What I really struggle with is how laggy the app in Android became. It is so frustrating.
I am running it in an s22 ultra and reinstalled it several times, but the issue is always there. Thing that for example I am not experiencing neither in iOS app nor the website.Am I the only one facing this? I would be very much interested in knowing if you're aware of it and are working on that. If
Thanks a lot

@theaudiman App updated about thirty minutes ago and now appears to be working.

Route Planner
Sorry for the my lack of understanding of this design. If I select a route by car/hike and and submit my speed, then why in the world would the units be meters per second???
Who would take the time to convert from mph??? Surely I am missing something. -
-
Is it possible to keep the weather picker on all the time even when viewing a forecast?
-
@idefix37 Thanks!!!
-
@vict90 happens to me also on S21 Ultra. I also find that the weather overlays don't refresh when following a planned route VFR (unless it is just a lot of lag)?
-
Great additions! Please include flight level 180 to the VFR route planner meteogram.

RE: New Version:
Just started checking out the new version of Windy. So far I have to say that I liked the old version of distance planning better. I have trouble getting it to layout a planed rout. I get one started the it disappears or pin points a waypoint I don’t want or the rout just disappears. Maybe I need to do something different I don’t know. These are very air routs I am referring to. -
It's a pity you've made so many changes at the same time. I believe I'm not alone in pointing out that it's far more preferrable to have a list of layers rather than these nasty thumbnails or whatever you may call them. Why not the option to toggle? The timeline bar at the bottom disappears and you have to kill the app to get it back. Not funny. I guess you're counting on users learning to navigate the new version. I wouldn't be so hopeful. Like most, I'm just a regular guy who's not willing to read a manual to get the knack all over again. And regular guys we've already migrated weather apps before. Yet it's sad to see how something good can be ruined pointlessly.

The new version turned the before excellent app into a rubbish.
The radar widget simply doesn't work at all!
As the "uruk" user poined out, just too many changes and I absolutely agrre that "it's far more preferrable to have a list of layers rather than these nasty thumbnails or whatever you may call them".
I used to use this app on hourly base - now looking for alternatives.
So sad how you ruined this! -

Is there a way to get rid of the big clunky pictures in the menu, and bring it back to the list. The list was ready to read, pictures are harder to scroll through and figure out what they mean.

Apologies for the auto incorrectly replacing my words. I meant to say, the list was easy to read the way it was previously.

@Shelleyshell We are collecting feedback from users right now, so I am not able to tell you if this will be back or not.
