Change the map size when hitting the Home button

I use the Home button on the main screen to view the weather where I am geolocated. Most of the time I am looking for relatively local weather, not the view of 1/3 of the US. I find myself zooming in a lot which is tedious. Is it possible to specify the map size when hitting that home button? Or an easier way to view the local weather given a specific map size?

With a long press (3s) on the home button you get the map at higher zoom level around your location. But there no way to change this zoom level.
