I use Windy through a Chrome browser and have location turned off so I can only assume that it's extrapolating my location from my IP address, which also inaccurately places my home's location. Is there a way to either (a) turn off the blue dot completely, or (b) override its location sniff with a user-defined location? No blue dot or a user-defined blue dot in the right place would be vastly better than an automatic, wrongly located, blue dot.

All the discussion threads complaining about this issue receive the same answer. And there are quite a few.

The blue dot has been known for years to be defective. Showing location based on IP is bogus, the IP is virtual and can be changed dynamically by large area ISPs any way they see fit. My blue dot also shows my location hundreds of km away.

I believe the position of this indicator is based on my IP adress. When i change my internet provider the blue dot appear in diffrient location. In this case the location detected by IP has no value and it is just confusing me. Maybe the setting for startup location shoul override position of this indicator if it is not set to IP address, but it dosn't.
There is no way to turn off the blue dot. Have you tried to set your home location as favorite and then to use this favorite location as start-up location in Settings ?
