Why does the location indicator disappears?
-
Hello,
I am happily using the Android app of Windy. The only thing that really bugs me, is that the indicator of my location disappears in most views.
Example:
I am in theweather radar
view. There is a blue dot with arrow indicating my position and direction. Now i change to thewind
view, the indicator disappears. How can I always keep the indicator? If this is not bug, but a design decision, I really wonder why?
Thanks!

This is frustrating me as well on iOS. The only layer it stays on is the radar. I really hope this can be addressed and fixed.

@Dan-Bezak @Horus107 Hi, you are right this is offered only in radar or you can long tap the home button to get info about your location. However, you can tap on Find my location at the top of the menu and this one will stay on the map the whole time.

This is exactly what I am referring to. Clicking find my location does indeed work and bring up the blue dot, however, if I am in any layer other than radar, it disappears within less than a minute, making it very cumbersome to have to activate it while moving.
Since you state it should stay on all the time once clicking, it must be a bug?
Edit:
I deleted and reinstalled the app and used the stop watch. The blue dot after clicking find my location disappeared after exactly 2 minutes.Thx

@Dan-Bezak I clarified this with colleagues from the dev team and displaying the location for two minutes is intentional. We have never had any reports about this until now, however, this won't be changed right now.

This is quite disappointing! I understand this is marketed to many use cases and many of those use cases involve moving. I can’t imagine how you would utilize this app efficiently while moving without this feature? I know without it, the app is basically useless for my use case.

@Dan-Bezak May I ask about your use case, when your location is displayed permanently?

@Ondřej-Šutera Driving, hiking and boating. It is quite cumbersome to click, menu, click the current location arrow to turn on and then yet again move the crosshairs to match location because they don’t seem to coordinate together.
…and unfortunately after a few minutes repeat again the above process, continuing to do so hundreds of times a day.
At least if the blue gps locator would stay on and follow, a simple slide of the map is all that would need done. Ultimately it would be nice, not only to have it stay on, but also to snap to the crosshairs as well.
