Custom colors - Wind overlay vs tables and widgets
-
Hi, I have created some custom colors for the wind overlay, but it seems to me that the colors displayed in the table view and the widgets are somehow different to the wind overlay colors legend. Customising the overlay colors does not seem to have any effect on the table colors.
Is it possible to have the table view and widget colors match that of the overlays colors?
Thanks. -
@Martin-Madsen
Not so far, the color scale of wind overlay does not match with the color stripes in the point forecast tables.
But for me, by chance, the wind color stripes in the table are quite similar to my own customised color scale for wind layer :) -
@idefix37 Thanks for clearing that up! I guess I can stop obsessing over it then :)

@Martin-Madsen
Could you show a screenshot of wind layer sample with your wind colors? -
@idefix37 Sure, np.
Just picked a random spot on the map that will show a diverse selection of the colors...
Here is the table view for a random map location:
and here are my custom colors:
...And for what its worth, here are my custom color codes:

@Martin-Madsen
Thank you, your screenshot is interesting. It is obvious that your color scale is far from the color stripes in the table.
With your scale the dark blue, dark red or black colors would not allow to read black figures in the table.
The colors in the table are approximately:
White 0-3 m/s
Blue 4-5 m/s
Green 6-8 m/s
Orange 9-12 m/s
Red 14-17 m/s
Purple beyond 18 m/s
Personally I prefer light colors for light winds.

@idefix37 Good point! The black text on dark colors would not be ideal for sure.
To be fair, the custom colors I created are heavily inspired by those used on the PredictWind wind maps. In fact I mostly tried to replicate the look, for no particular reason, other than I just liked those colors more than the default Windy colors.
I think what you mention about light colors for light winds makes sense. I also like your Beaufort color scale that you linked. Very useful.
Also, thanks for the write up of the table values. Perhaps I will try my hand on creating another color scale that better matches those of the table colors.
