I can upload .gpx bike routes on my desktop computer but can't see any function to open the uploaded .gpx file on my iPhone? Any assistance appreciated ...

Now with the last release you can import GPX files with iPhone:

It would be so awesome if we could have Windy as an “action” in iOS so we could plan in a nav app and ”send it” to Windy.

Just plan and plot your route directly in Windy using the Route planner feature.
Or save a GPX file from your navigation app and use this file in Windy.
On the other hand how can you imagine your navigation app send information to Windy ?? What do you mean with “an action in iOS”?
