I don't like the thumbnails covering up the map. how do i get rid of them.

I fully understand what you mean. Unfortunately, at the moment there is no option to get rid of the thumbnails.
Actually, there are many, many users that complained about this over the past weeks. Unfortunately, the Windy guys seem to be very convinced that the thumbnail list is better than the compact list that was used in the past.

@Rand-Bishop I agree. I can see no practical advantage for having thumbnails cover up all the nuances of the maps. Windy team - please provide an option to go back to the tiny webcam icon!!! As soon as possible please!

@Rand-Bishop I hate map thumbnails also; turning off particle animation got rid of them for me. (It was a button mid-RH of the screen)
