Hello, I've found out that ground elevation is no longer displayed in Outdoor Maps after a long press, this is have been happening since the restyling of Windy app on Android.
Is this a bug?Thanks

@Looka92 I will discuss this with colleagues and will keep you posted.

@Ondřej-Šutera Hi, I have an update for you. These data in the outdoor map were removed from Windy, since it was a bit technically demanding and basically there were no reasons for this, since it has nothing to do with the weather.

@Ondřej-Šutera I understand, it's a pity and I'm sorry, I found it a very useful function, although not strictly related to weather. Thank you anyway for your reply and the effort you put into updating Windy!

@Ondřej-Šutera Oh! It is a shame, I did quite enjoy the feature and it helped a lot for planning around weather event planning and projects here in Canada, but even just hiking and knowing where’s best to location to weather a passing storm was a nice feature too.
To the person who first asked the question I can say I found a bit of a solution : if you use the route planning feature, you can select various waypoints and it will provide you a graph of the elevations and allow you to interact with the elevations at each waypoint. It is less intuitive and user friendly (and certainly slower), but it does allow you to save those waypoints/route maps to your favourites. Nonetheless, I guess it makes sense that if it was causing the windy servers to overheat or use a significant amount of power/resources, that its feature wouldn’t be as important .Hopefully one day it’ll come back, we just gotta spread the word about windy and get more people to sign up! :) I

In any layer, including the Outdoor map, just click on map location and select Sounding forecast:
- In the top right corner in mobile app
- With right click on mouse on website.
You get the elevation of the location and the model elevation i.e. the altitude at which the model “sees” this location. It allows to understand some discrepancies and wrong forecasts in mountain and to select the best model at this location.
In this example the altitude of the ECMWF model at this location is 138 m lower than the reality.

Very disappointed to read that you have removed this functionnality :'-(
