Some Transparency on these new chq ges would be nice. Why did you ruin a good app?
-
A lot of people it seems are upset with the new UI, and you can count me in that group. I'm even more upset with the lack of transparency and seemingly single track mindset of the devs. Why won't you tell us why you made these changes? Why won't you listen to your paying customers and bring the old version back or at least explain why things changed so dramatically so quickly.
I hope devs respond and aren't too chicken to defend their design ideas.

Hi @Aquatarkus, majority of feedbacks was considered, however it was decided that this UI will be kept and we want to continue with this design, since we still think that the new interface is more user friendly for touch devices.
Also, there is a certain work behind this version and we don't want to get back to the old version. However, we understand that the latest changes can be confusing and massive for certain users.

@Ondřej-Šutera Is the team at all considering giving users the choice to use list or gallery view? I'd love to see more customization in that regard (give users choices).
-
@Wheats Right now, it is not planned but it can change in the future.
-
@Ondřej-Šutera That's unfortunate to hear. I've been trying to come up with middle-ground solutions to all of this feedback regarding the new app update. Clearly people are very unhappy with certain aspects (myself included).
I feel giving users a choice to navigate your app the way they are most comfortable with will only benefit Windy.
At the moment, kind of feels like no one on the development team is listening or trying to solve the problems this new UI has created - instead we're being forced to either accept whatever design and "upgrade" is forced upon us - or leave.
Please prioritize user experience and listen to the many many users who have taken the time to voice their opinions. Certainly, some could be better at being respectful, but others are genuinely trying to help make the application better.
Give us the ability to choose List vs Gallery.
Give us the ability to turn off "auto-zoom".Personally, I can get used to the other stuff (new crosshairs, unable to select a location by pressing on the screen) but the gallery view is maddening to me, all it's doing is taking up screen real estate for no added value in my opinion. The auto-zooming feature never bothered me before but now that a significant amount of my screen is gone to menu's, the auto-zooming is also maddening.
-
@Wheats Yes the auto zoom is quite the pain.
-
Guys, I can only second what you all say. I want to add one more thing to the list of very frequent complaints, that also comes up ever other day: The location selection process. So the list becomes:
- List vs Gallery.
- option turn off "auto-zoom".
- option to select location by taping on the screen.
@Ondřej-Šutera
I find it quite unbelievable what you report from the mindset at Windy. You write "it was decided that this UI will be kept and we want to continue with this design, since we still think that the new interface is more user friendly for touch devices."The Windy-team thinks it is more user-friendly... Well, nice. I use your formerly wonderful app since years on touch devices. I would really like to know how the windy-team uses the app. I might be wrong, but I have the feeling, that there might be persons who might not very often use Windy on a professional scale out in the field, but are more driven by introducing some new touch-UI concepts. If you look into the forum, you will very easily see, that your paying customers do net get tired of CONTINUOUSLY GIVING YOU FEEDBACK (for free). More or less every day, another new user stops by and tells you and your team, how awfully the Windy-team degraded the app.
You also write "Also, there is a certain work behind this version and we don't want to get back to the old version."
Well, this is a very common mistake, sticking to something wrong, just because one has invested some time and money. You need to critically analyze what you did to the app and please include the voices of your customers in this analysis. Sticking to something bad, only because it had a certain price, is never a good idea in any situation.PLEASE: Listen to your customers. Do not completely put what the dev-team likes above the feedback from your customers.
PLEASE: Consider to make certain most frequently requested things available as option.When I first went to this forum some weeks ago because I was furious due to the new app, I did not expect to find anyone else who had the same complaints. I was overwhelmed about the fact, that there are so many other users who consistently complain about the same things.
So, please re-prioritize and do something about these most frequently reported issues.
Over the past years I continuously spread the word about Windy. It was the best app. Not anymore, so instead now have quite a critical position with regards to Windy when discussing weather apps with friends and colleagues.
Best

@Ondřej-Šutera
Ondrej, you might see, how I do not get tired of trying to formulate my concerns.
This is since I think Windy HAD the best concept for user interaction and I still hope that the Windy-team wakes up and reverts some things. Windy was so good, that it would be a huge shame to just walk by, shrug shoulders and accept that the team made some mistakes. No, this can not be the way.I still hope, that somehow the team did not realize yet the negative implications of the recent changes and might come to senses at a certain point.
