Real water movement vs what Windy is showing.
-
I live near the Delta waters of California. Oddly for instance today, your current direction vs. reality is way off. The tide is rolling in yet your tidal currents are showing that the tide is actually going out. Mallard Island Ferry Wharf, Suisun Bay. Oddly right at this moment the water shows movement coming in yet Windy shows the tide direction as going out.

@Tom-Erbil
Please could you give a little more detail? Are you referring to the local “Tide forecast” or to the “Tidal currents” layer? -
@idefix37 Tidal currents layer versus tidal forecast. This morning it was about 10:30 Am and High tide was at 2 PMish. And all the way up until even after 2, tidal currents were showing an outgoing tide. Not possible. It was incoming at 10:30.

@Tom-Erbil Oddly enough, at the moment it appears to be showing the current correctly. Outgoing and it should be outgoing. Maybe there was a small glitch somewhere along the way.

@Tom-Erbil
So in fact you are trying to compare Tidal forecast and Tidal currents. Their data is different.
Tidal forecast is a calculation based on tidal stations observation.
Tidal currents is deducted from satellite altimetry data, and therefore this layer is completely inaccurate in bays and narrow areas as this thread explains:
