'Dots' around NEXRAD returns

For the last few weeks, the perimeter of NEXRAD returns have been showing many small, intense precipitation returns that appear as many small dots around the circumference of a storm. In comparison to to the actual NOAA NEXRAD data, it appears Windy (or the NEXRAD API, as I'm not really sure how the two interface) may be misinterpreting or incorrectly decoding the NEXRAD intensity returns, as the NOAA presentation does not show the same. Meteorologically, it doesn't really make much sense either. Some screenshots are attached.
Has anyone else noticed the same? Windy folks, do you know what's causing this anomaly?
