Favorites saved with wrong label
-
This has been bugging me for a few weeks now, used to not be an issue:
- Click Forecast for this location, and note the label that is shown for the location.
- Then click to favorite that location.
The label for the favorite is not the name of the geographical feature you clicked on, as expected, but the nearest town, or, in some cases, the county!
You can of course rename the favorite in the Favorites sidebar, if you can find it...
-
@ejain Can you send the location to us, so I can test it?
-
@Ondřej-Šutera This happens pretty much with any location I click... Here's another example: https://www.windy.com/48.126/-120.807?clouds,2023091003,48.123,-120.807,15
The location input shows "Freezer Pass", but the favorite is saved as "Chelan" (the largest town in the county?).
-
@ejain This is probably caused by the fact that we don’t have all geographical names in our database. You can find them in the map, that we use as a background, but they are not available.

@Ondřej-Šutera When I click Forecast for this location, the place name appears in the search input as expected, so Windy does know about those place names.
Place name shows as expected:
...but when I click to favorite this location, it is saved as "Lewis" (the county name, note the yellow label):
