Lightning locations are inaccurate

I've noticed that sometimes lightning symbols will appear nowhere near storms, as if the location that the symbol is being plotted at is inaccurate. In these cases, there won't be a storm for dozens if not hundreds of miles and there is a lightning symbol plotted.
