<![CDATA[Resolving Issues with Android Widgets: A Step-by-Step Guide]]>WIDGET ISSUES with described steps

If you have issues with some of the Android widgets, please follow the steps below.

Android 14, 13, 12 application settings:

  1. Long tap on Windy icon and tap on App info button:

Windy application settings should be opened:

  1. Tap on Notifications settings and allow notifications:

  1. Go back to application settings and open location permission settings. Set location access to Allow all the time option:

  1. Go back to application settings and open App battery usage settings. Set battery usage to Unrestricted:

Android 11, 10 application settings:

Android 11, 10 notification and location permission steps are similar to Android 12, 13 and 14.

To set correct battery settings click on Battery in Windy application settings:

Tap on Battery optimization:

If Windy is not listed click on Not optimized and select All apps from the dropdown menu. Select Windy, in the dialog click on Don't optimize option and hit Done:

Android 9, 8, 7 application settings:

Android 9, 8, 7 Location settings does not have All the time option. Allow application to use device's location. In this case the application is allowed to use your location when widget refresh is triggered, no extra step is needed.

Other battery optimization settings

Various devices may have different battery auto optimization settings. These settings could remove background processes. This may cause troubles while widgets are trying to refresh.

Hi, my Windy app is set to use mph, °F, in, etc (standard US measurements) but my 4x2 widget on Android shows mph, °C.

I've uninstalled the app, replaced the widget, set my units to different ones and changed them back, nothing seems to work.

All permissions are given in the settings. Until recently, everything worked correctly!

This issue has been going for almost a year or so. I've followed all the steps to fix issues by uninstalling/reinstalling windy and the widget, battery optimisation and location settings. I'm using a Samsung s24 Ultra.
