      Hi!
Will we be able to see the model Arpège in Windy in a close future? It would be great as an extension of Arôme and to compare with the others large range models in Europe...
      Greetings!

        Hi @Axel-Lerouge,

Excellent question, can't wait to get some information on this. :)

@Nyxtorm @Axel-Lerouge At this moment, it is not planned to implement this model.

@Ondřej-Šutera That is very unfortunate, as Arpège Europe model is one of the best models for Mediterranean Sea, particularly as it has 0.1 grid.

My favourite weather routing app (SailGrib WR) supports both ECMWF 0.4 and Arpège Europe 0.1 and the difference in routing is shown here - this is for our regatta tommorrow:

            ECMWF: https://photos.app.goo.gl/j3Cj7BLeXHbs9rZQ7

            Arpège: https://photos.app.goo.gl/iR5WRXViQyHfGxR4A

The difference in grid can be seen with the density of wind barbs.

It is really unfortunate that this great model that is public does not get supported in best weather app - Windy.

BTW: we use Windy route planner to check forecast a week before regatta to plan the best route: https://pbj.pojalabanda.com/jadranje/2023/vreme/

              @Lure
Note the ECMWF model in Windy is the high resolution version (HRES) named IFS. Its resolution is 0.1° or 9 km. For Windy the cost of access to this version is very high.
While the app you mention uses the free version with a 0.4° resolution, about 40 km.

So when you use the Route planer in Windy, you have a 0.1° resolution prediction, which is important in coastal navigation with surrounding mountains.

                Hi all,
i wanted to know what where the implications of adding new models(financialy and technicaly )?
As Météofrance are going nearly all open data (at least on some of therre products ) it would be pretty cheap to add Arpège (or no cost for the acquisition of the data )

@idefix37 good point, ecmwf in windy is same resolution as arpegè, however I find arpegè (and derived models like aladin) better for sail navigation. Windy's great UX would be great with arpegè
