Whilst I'm confident that the temperature, pressure, humidity and index are reasonably accurate I feel that the addition of an anemometer in these stations cannot hope to be anywhere near accurate in a domestic environment with surrounding buildings etc.</p>
<p dir="auto">It would be impossible to mount the station anywhere near high enough for the anemometer to function correctly and even if this were possible the unit is battery powered making it even more implausible.</p>
<p dir="auto">I see that others in this forum talk about these stations, but I assume you must all be lucky enough to live near open fields or something.</p>
<p dir="auto">Any comments would be appreciated. I live in the UK by the way. My station is currently reporting a wind speed of 3.6 mph whilst the WMO station at Coningsby is reporting 17mph winds.</p>

I hear ya on the struggle to find a good spot to mount it, too. It's like trying to find a unicorn sometimes! 😅<br />

They've got some solid gear that's used by the pros. But hey, for everyday use, as long as the temp and humidity are on point, I'm happy enough.</p>

These weather stations are not gadgets, but they need to be installed in a proper location to get accurate reports. As you say, when there are high buildings in the surrounding, the wind measurement, speed and direction, will be surely wrong. Same with temperature.<br />
Fortunately now in Windy you can choose the weather stations category you want (Aiports, WMO, PWS…).</p>

<p dir="auto">I believe there might be issue with correctly processing data from different types of stations. There might be some kind of bug in processing that leads to data not being stored or displayed. We will investigate this a bit more.</p>

I had the 5 in 1 for many years and found all readings very accurate. Living in open countryside the key readings I followed were, wind speed, rainfall and temperature. I was primarily always watching wind speed due to potential property damage. This unit packed up and I bought the Bresser 7 in 1. What a disappointment to the extent I might just scrap it and buy something else. The readings are so inaccurate especially wind speed. I’ve tried altering the sensitivity but no improvement. No  rational explanation from Bresser despite offering courteous answers but not solving the problem. I am presently in a “red weather alert “ in Scotland , the wind is howling and I know it must be 30/35 mph if not more. My Bresser is presently showing gusts 6.6 mph. What a joke. I like the online facility and being able to view and follow other stations around the country and the online community but it doesn’t compensate for inaccurate information. Regards</p>

Being all in one unit there is no way of getting the anemometer up to 10 metres. The unit is battery operated and anyway temperature and humidity sensors should not be at that height. Fun but not serious science!</p>

<p dir="auto">I agree with you. It often happens that stations display very erroneous wind values. Because they are often not correctly located (the anemometer must be 10 meters high) and their environment is not clear enough (buildings, trees or terrain must not disturb the flow of air ).</p>

Many personal weather stations (PWS) give inaccurate wind reports.<br />
e.g.<br />
Location 1 : PWS show North at 1 kt or South at 4 kt while the Leeds airport shows (correctly) West at 23 kt.<br />
Location 2 : PWS shows Calm (0 kt) while a nearby station shows (correctly) West at 20 kt.<br />
Location 3 (on the shore) : PWS shows 9 kt  while a WMO (certified?) station shows 19 kt.</p>
