wind direction planning pannel vs map
-
Hi for me it seems that the planning pannel shows wrong wind direction arrows. this happens when the first point is east of the second one
other way round it seems OK

Very difficult to see the detail of your screenshot.
But I’m quite sure that the apparent wrong direction of the wind in the panel is due to the Left to right default setting.
Change it to North upMore details:

thanks - solved
why is there the left to right option ?

This way of showing the wind seems to be quite commonly used in flight planning charts, showing the headwind/tailwind. I’m not an aviation expert, but several members of the Windy dev team are.

I requested several times for North to be the default setting, but it was not done in the app.
This would make it easy for everyone to understand the wind direction in the route planner. It must therefore be explained to many forum users. But probably a lot of Windy users never ask about it and consider this planner to be wrong. -
@idefix37
thanks,
indeed a bit confusing; I would rather go for two options: north up, and wind relative to route direction
I think this is a wonderful tool and we used it a lot on our longer sailing passages (just checked, north up was the setting on the laptop used ;) it is a pitty if useres dont recognise the power of this option; -

You mean that users are unaware that there is a setting for wind direction reference?
Now you know that you can switch between these options as you want.
On the website, if I remember correctly, the default setting was changed to North Up after some discussion. But when the route guide was added to the mobile app, the default setting was by mistake set to Left to Right. -
