Weather picker on Android browser not centering
-
Hi, I am a Windy Premium customer for a number of years and since the last update I have been having difficulty with the Windy.com browser weather picker not centering when using on an Android device. The app works fine but I need to use the browser version to be able to use plugins. When I click on a favorite location using my laptop I get the following and it displays the weather picker near the center of the screen and at the right time:
https://www.windy.com/-33.822/18.475?,-37.927,18.435,5,i:pressureHowever, when I do exactly the same on my Android, you can see the location is the same, but for some reason the weather picker redirects to a totally different location, very zoomed in and not at the current time:
https://www.windy.com/-33.822/18.475?-45.890,18.457,9,i:pressurePlease let me know what is causing this as it has only started happening recently and I have been having no issues the previous years, and what I can do to resolve it. I look forward to your response in due course.
With gratitude

Hello,
Since the main mobile app UI update in summer, Android in your case, the picker is completely different. It looks like a crosshairs and is centered in the upper third of the screen. You must move the map under the crosshairs to select a point.
The mobile app never gave access to plugins.BTW, it is better to show screenshots because your links open Windy in our system which is not necessarily the same as yours.

@idefix37 thank you for your prompt reply. I'm aware of the new updated weather picker functionality and that the mobile app doesn't give access to plugins which is why I was forced to use the browser version on Android. When I use the mobile app and select one of my favorites, "Blouberg" in this example, the crosshair more or less centers on the screen like this: https://www.screencast.com/t/milMJihMe
However, when accessing Windy.com via a browser and selecting the same favorite, "Blouberg" it displays as follows, so the crosshair isn't even on the screen and the time selected is several hours earlier: https://www.screencast.com/t/57bt5pEgF7HJ. When using the crosshair to select "Blouberg" rather than via favorites it displays as follows with the crosshair at the top center of the screen: https://www.screencast.com/t/Q7dtSnemMDjK.
This behavior is specific to Android as I have been unable to replicate it using a laptop or iPhone. The reason I am unable to use the mobile app as explained is because I need access to some plugins.
With gratitude

Any ideas?

@idefix37 I also have the same issue in version 40.0.6! As shown in the first picture, when I click on "Beijing" or use the weather picker to select and view the weather in Beijing, as shown in the second picture, the location being displayed on the map will become totally different and very zoomed. This is a new issue in version 40, which is not present in version 39. This small issue will make users confused and twisted.

@chzhh Version 39.3.2 is the most perfect display!
-
@chzhh Hi, may I ask if you have turned off this button when the issue appeared?
-
@Ondřej-Šutera Yes, I turned off this button and the problem occurred
-
@chzhh Okay, thank you for confirmation. Our colleagues are already working on the fix.
-
@Ondřej-Šutera Okay, thank you and all the colleagues in the Windy team. Windy is a great app and I use it every day.
-
@chzhh Yes, I also turned off this button. Thanks for your help, much appreciated.

@Ondřej-Šutera I managed to replicate this behavior across both Android & iPhone. It relates to this button. When it is active the map zooms and centres on the chosen favorite location. When it is deactivated is when the map zooms on another location. It is important for me to be able to zoom out and see the big picture while on a spot forecast. Hope that helps.

@jamiej83 Thank you for your message, we are already testing fixed version so hopefully the solution will be available soon.
