Setting a Wind Gust Alert
-
I set an alert to tell me when the wind is tolerable (below ˜12 or 13 mph for me, including gusts) and the temperature is over 40 degrees so I can go biking. I just got a notification that the forecast for Wednesday at 11 am meets those criteria.
So I opened Windy and I see the forecast for Wednesday shows wind between 8 and 11 mph all day but with gusts of 17 or 18 mph. It's nearly guaranteed that I won't be able to bike on Wednesday due to the gusts and unfortunately that's very typical in this area.
So basically Windy just wasted my time and rubbed in the fact that I'm stuck inside when I'd rather be out biking.
How do I get a wind gust alert?
-
@tessellahedron Windalert.com says it does gust alerts. It's a paid feature but at least they have it.
Unless someone knows a free option or how to get gust alerts in Windy I guess I'm switching to Windalert.

@tessellahedron Hi, we are working on the new version of alerts, where more features and setups should be possible to use.
-
@Ondřej-Šutera that's excellent news! Can you give a rough estimate of when that update might happen?
I hope to try it for next spring/summer.
-
@Suty Any updates on the wind gust alerts? Is that available yet?
-
@crazycats Not sure if wind gusts will be implemented, but we are planning to release new alert system in version 43, probably in summer.

@Suty
