Windy V40 - What's New

I like the new look on the internet interface and android as well, but the 3 hour forecast on the free version is not that i like it. (earlier times) I used to like 1 hour on free version and now price of 19 € or 30 € it's not worth it, i use every day very often almost every 1 to 2 hours i open Windy to check weather forecast or some of models this provides. I don't have a pro version of Windy.

If you really use Windy app every day and a few times per day, then you should definitely consider subscribing. -
today my windy changed completely, instead of all the content list on the right hand side of the screen has now changed to a bunch of spheres. am TO Old to relearn how to use windy again. went into all the settings get it back to where i was comfortable, and cant figure out How, this updated new thing here is sadly frustrating, is there a way to put it back the way it was?

@rickclarke I am also shocked at the ``improvement.'' Silly graphics replace perfectly good text in the menu. I, too searched for a switch to change it back but I suspect it is not available. Hope I am incorrect on this.

Is there a possibility to get back the pictograms for the selection of the parameters? The small images are not helpful in my opinion.
I also miss the "submenus". For me it was very comfortable to select e.g. "Clouds" and instantly find the submenu with "Low Clouds", "Medium Clouds" and "High Clouds" (same for wind and gusts).

@Chris-Chapel @wetterheidi @rickclarke This is the new design of our desktop version, which offers only one menu instead of two of them. Also, it is more similar to the mobile version of Windy. If you have any questions, please let me know.

@Suty any posibility of a legacy mode? The new interface looks fancy, but while not perfect, i prefer the usability of the old one.

I agree there should be toggle for going back to the other mode that had less furniture in the way users.

Also the removal of the 10 day forcast and aviation metrological views... in the dumbing down of your app... is a dubious removal of functionality... for the 'sake' of mobile 'compatibility'.
That is 'why' desktop versions exist... sheesh user UI/UX functionality is what made this a a great app. Nerfing... oh my.

@Suty The most important loss for me is that you removed submenu. Now menu without pin grouping. Bad, very bad.
I need fast access to pin with grouping pins by category, how earlier.

@Mark2024 Basically you can use the same logic with groups of layers that are divided by the topic, above layers in the menu. And also you can still pin your favorite ones on your homescreen.

@540nm Hi, we didn't remove any data or layers in general, except standard outdoor map. What exactly are you missing?

@Suty Maybe: When mouse waiting on an icon for 1 sec, a small topic related submenue (eg. the set of the element.) could pop up, like the favorite pin folder in the app?

@Suty wanted to let WINDY.COM know that Google's Play Store is highly rating & promoting a NEW APP called WINDY.APP --- NOT the Windy.com app of which I am a Premium user. They want $24.99 annually for their PRO version. I tried logging in with my Windy.com credentials with ZERO success---'it is a different platform !!! Might want to advise your legal team???

@sasbibic We shouldn't have any issues with widgets in this version, can you please check this post and article there? Also, I would recommend trying to clear cache and data in Windy.com app in your device and try to add widgets again.
I have Samsung Galaxy S21 on One UI 5 (Android 13) using Nova Launcher widgets are showing as black boxes. Restarting the launcher or phone fix the issue temporarily.

@mncraftmod Can you test the behavior for longer time without the launcher?

Hello, i would like to see an option to be able to pick Waves/Tides as the default when choosing a spot for a forecast. Now when I choose a spot and expand the forecast it defaults to Basic, I'd like to be able to change that.
