Icons: location& functionality—app vs desktop
-
There is a lack of consistency between the desktop and mobile (iOS) app.
The lack of consistency leads to a confusing user experience. Suggestions:
-
Create consistency by choosing a method and sticking to it on both platforms.
-
Be consistent in the 'sidebar' icons and their functionality on both platforms. Honestly, I never know where to look for anything. See images below.
- The Hamburger and Search are at the top left on the desktop vs bottom right on mobile app.
- In the mobile app, Favourites are show by tapping the user icon/image.
- In the desktop/web, Favourites are found by clicking either the user icon or the hamburger then 'Favourites'.
- Use the mobile app sidebar for both mobile and desktop and provide a Favourites icon under Home and above Search.

@lllusion
My vote here is to change the mobile application back to how it was - MUCH more like the website.
The ideal interface, in my opinion, is the website. -
Whichever, the two interfaces just need to be consistent.
One thing to consider re. icons vs fields + words, is the limited display space on the mobile app.

It looks like a change was made today. Desktop Windy now looks like the mobile app. What's weird is that it's hard to find a login. Neither the hamburger nor the Home icon provide login. But under the Pin icon there's a '🤍' for Favourites. That's where I find a login option. I don't understand why there just can't be a '🤍' all the time as well as an icon for the user profile and desired settings. To be honest, this whole version is rather clunky.

@lllusion Hi, we didn't make any changes according to mobile/desktop interface in the last weeks. According to the mobile interface, we united the mobile UI for all touch mobile devices (tablets, cell phones) a few months ago. Desktop browsers offer still the same UI.
Before that, certain tablets have mobile UI and the rest has the desktop one.

@Ondřej-Šutera Thanks for the reply. Very weird. This morning when refreshing the desktop its UI was back to desktop UI. Yesterday, as indicated above, I was getting the mobile UI on the desktop. Odd.
Still, my feedback stands for having consistency across all UI's, and for providing separate icons for Favourites and User (login, profile, personal settings). The Hamburger can have all the other stuff.
Also, I still can't figure out what the point of the Home icon is on the mobile UI.

@lllusion I agree with certain points of your suggestions and try to discuss this with colleagues, however, it is not only about me, but the whole product team to decide about this. Thank you for your understanding with this matter.
