Warnings of the arrival of storms
-
Hello all.
I'm curious if it's possible to set a beep for an upcoming storm to a specific location? For example: I'm in Graz and I'm getting a beep that a storm is coming. Is it possible to do that? I'm sorry if this topic has already been -
@vuledu Unfortunately, this is not possible at the moment.

@vuledu
Hi,
I would like to suggest that we could have access to global weatherwarnings like a newsticker. The actual way is not very smart. Do I want to get information from TV in the first place when I´m premium in Windy?
All big wheather-extremes in this summer (Spain, Greece, Italy etc.) weren´t really pointed out in the Windy app. This feels not really snappy to me. -
@Pillemann I didn't mean it like that on TV. I thought the app would ring with a beep and a short message that bad weather was coming. Or to announce the day before that there might be a storm in a particular location.

@vuledu Do any of the alert options for a chosen location satisfy what you're looking for? You can set it for a number of conditions (rain, wind, temp, etc.).

@vuledu
I didn´t mean it should to be like on TV. Weatherwarnings should be BETTER in Windy THAN TV.
I know I can open the weatherwarning layer, which I have to select, decrease the size of the map and than look for the warnings around the globe. It´s just not snappy. My wish is that I could read somewhere in Windy like a Blog or a newsticker that a wheatherextreme is coming for that or that region in the world -> then I would open the map (perhaps with a link) and look for it.
I think weatherwarnings are one of the weakest points of Windy. -
The local warnings are already available in Windy at opening.
When clicking them you get more information
But may be it is not available in every country.
It is based on the Weather warnings layer.But these warnings only highlight a risk. They cannot give the alert 10 minutes before a storm in a specific location. If that's what you need, it would require further development based on radar and lightning provider data.

@idefix37
Hi idefix37,
this is not exactly what I mean.
I want to know about weatherextremes worldwide. From flooding to fire to storm -> not by the weatherwarning layer but by written text. To get some local wheatherwarnings isn´t the deal for me. It´s just okay. I wouldn´t get notified when I don´t live in your town. That´s simply behind "premium".
Think in global climate dimensions and we surely will get knocked by extremeweather in future. I want to see that.For example Zürich. It´s orange in weatherwarning layer. But when I open the normal wind layer and look at Zürich I will not get an extra warning by default.
There´s nothing popping up. That´s what I miss.
The orange field is a link which leads to this:

@Pillemann
But it was @vuledu's request that opened the topic. Sorry, my message should not have been addressed to you.
However, wanting to be notified of all catastrophic events in the world, I doubt it would be easy to obtain a data source on this subject.
You can at least look at the Extreme Weather layer, which provides a good estimate of extreme wind, temperature, and rain forecasts compared to normal climate. -
@idefix37
Hi and thx for your efforts.
Maybe I have derailed the thread slightly. Hopefully the devs will consider a clearer way in future releases. Like it is now, it´s not the quickest way and just feels like a workaround. -
@idefix37 I meant this
I hope I explained it well.
-
@vuledu
So you get it.
And you want a “beep” in addition ? -
@idefix37 To appear a pop-up window on the lock screen,. I think it can be done for mobile devices.
I hope you understand what I mean.
