New app version problems
-
Please add a function to deactivate the auto weather picker. It is the most annoying thing in the new version of the app, and the fact that you can't just turn it off, and look the the map peacefully sucks.

@rb97
When you touch the screen, the weather picker appears with a grey top banner. A workaround is to use 2 fingers to move te map so that the picker is not active. -
@idefix37 terrible solution.
Please allow to deactivate the auto picker. -
Hope Windy developers hear you !

@Ondřej-Šutera
In this case could you explain precisely what is the benefit for users (or for program development / maintenance), of having the crosshairs with all its disadvantages compared to the old picker. Don’t say it is faster and easier because this is wrong.
I remember that the argument for a picker in a fixed position on the screen was that it allow to use the iPhone with one hand and to slide the map to have the location under the picker with the thumb.
Is it the reason for this change which is definitively bad particularly with iPad or any tablet ? -
@idefix37 The code of the mobile app was completely remade and since the design was unified, there is a much better performance and it is now much easier to fix anything in the app. Tapping areas are now more available than in the previous version.
I know that you and many users were used to the previous version of app in tablet devices, but the decision was made more than a half year ago and it won't be changed, unfortunately. I understand your concern but it is set this way now. I am sorry about that.

@Ondřej-Šutera
Thank you for reply.
I still hope there is room for future improvements because the current UX/UI is really annoying compare to the old mobile app. -
@Ondřej-Šutera
Clear and informative answer, thank you for that.My ask - if you can't give us the old UI - give us more personalization options:
- List view vs Gallery view
- Disable Auto-zoom
- as @rb97 states, deactivate the weather picker from displaying automatically
Give us the ability to personalize more of our experience please.

@Wheats I will forward these three topics to colleagues for consideration, that it the most I can do now.
