Windy Mac update
-
Hello my Windy App on the Mac says it's obsolete and need an update, but I can't find nowhere even in the App Store to do it. Can anybody help please.

Hi @herbieblank, we don't provide any version of app for Mac devices. There were certain issues with this version and it is planned to get it back, however, it is necessary to use our web app now.
-
@Ondřej-Šutera So the Mac application has been completely abandoned? If so that's a shame.
-
@Montanero what did the Mac app give you that you can’t get from the web site?
-
@Montanero It is for now. This app requests more work and adjustments and it basically doesn't offer anything extra compared to the web app.
-
This is such a shame. I've been using the Windy app for ages on my MacBook M1 and it's been working great. I really wish you would support it in the future. I would love to see a proper version for Mac with offline mode. That would be a game changer.

@Suty Looking for those great widgets on my Mac M2 Sonoma 14.4.1, this has happened before, it's a paid app, and why can't you get it to work with the Widgets? It worked for the last week or two maybe longer than poof like before it's gone is this because you removed it from the app store. I can load it through WebCatalog app which still doesn't give me the widgets, they are great looking widgets, please

@Russell-Kling Hi, Windy is removed from the AppStore on MacOS for more than a year now. However, if you want to use widgets on your Mac and you have an iPhone with the latest iOS 17, you can use same widgets on your Mac as well. They are provided by Windy.com app in your iPhone.

@Suty To re-enable the widget, since I have the same user on iPhone and on the web version, I see the widget fine on iPhone but not on Mac. Please send instructions. Thank you.
-
@Guillermo-Bruna-Eyzaguirre Hi, if you have at least MacOS Sonoma and iOS 17 on your iPhone, then you should see Windy widgety from mobile device on Mac.
-
@Suty Thank you, it wasn't working, but today when I started the Mac, the widget appeared correctly.
-
And how do you do it if you have a Mac but not an iPhone? I have an Android phone in any case. The idea is to recover the widgets that the mac app had.
-
@andy_st Unfortunately, there is no solution. But since MacOS app wasn't used by many users, we decided to keep our apps without this one.
-
@Suty There are many MacBook users and many of them have moved away from the minimalist design of IOS being more satisfied with Android phones for their better screens, features and customization. So they use both, Macbooks and Android phones.
The Macbook is a highly professional computer. I would say it's the best in the world and Windy, with its high end features was a PERFECT match, especially for highly technical users.
I use my MacBook Pro with (2) 32" monitors and having Windy open in one window so it can run full time, while not tying up a browser. This has been critical for me during storms because I spend most of my time on my MacBook.
So I just want to say that it's disappointing that you would abandon your support from the best, professional computer on the market to only the more childlike devices like Iphones. I may have to re-evaluate my continued subscription.

@Rickpp Hi, we actually use our web app as a main core of the whole app. The rest is based on that app basically. MacOS app was always almost a copy of our web app, which is possible to use in browser on these devices. But there was an extra work about this to support basically the same app. This was an extra job for us, which has not any positive affect.
