Lightning not being shown
-
My Windy app used to show lightning strikes on both the satellite and radar maps, with a toggle for turning the visibility on or off. However, after an update, the lightning has disappeared, as well as the toggle. Using the app on a different device shows the lightning but with no toggle (same version on both devices, 40.1.2).

@Josh-B489 Could you please add more details about these devices?
-
@Ondřej-Šutera My primary device (the device that shows no lightning at all) is an Oppo Find X5 Pro running ColorOS 14.0.0.201 on top of Android 14. My secondary device (the device that shows the lightning with no toggle) is a Huawei Nova 5t running EMUI 12.0.0.170.

I think they removed that toggle in the mobile version. You could try going to the desktop web version and select Radar and see if it is on there. Turn it on if not. Hopefully this will be saved in the cloud and it will start working in the mobile version. Worth a shot.

@btschumy You're right. It seems like they did indeed remove the toggle from the app. The toggle is there on the website but switching it on doesn't affect the app.

@Josh-B489 then that seems like a bug to me. They still access the hidden setting, but give you no way to change it.

@Josh-B489 Hi, could you please test Windy.com in your browser on that same device, where the app has an issue?
-
I am having the same issue with lightning not showing on the app but does work in the chrome browser on the same device. Motorola g Fast, android 11, windy v 42.2.3

Apple iPad Pro, iOS 17.6.2, still not showing lightning or the ability to turn it on. As an offshore pilot that flies beyond radar range, this feature is wonderfully useful when overlayed on Satellite. Thank you for that. Since I'm already here and criticizing, the switch to Real from Blitzortnung added a lot of false positives to the screen, lightning where there are no clouds over WIDE swaths all across the northern coast of Australia. This may be a function of a small number of receivers to discriminate positions. We went from underrepresentation to way over, and I prefer the Blitz criteria. I'm not worried about a little storm, it's the embedded ones that will get me in trouble. Thank you sincerely, Windy community, for what you have produced. From a user of Intellicast 25 years ago, this the best, by far, representation of real time weather.
