Windy premium widgets working again
-
On my pixel 8 pro\Android 14. I again deleted cache and data and this time the widgets began working after recreating them.
The difference this time seemed to be that my account was logged off. Not sure how my account stayed logged on before after wiping cache and data, but it did.
Next time I see the widgets quit working, I'll try to remember to log off and log back in and see if that fixes the widgets.

@speedlever Thank you for informing us, I already forwarded it to colleague.

@Suty
I noticed my widgets wouldn't refresh this morning and the radar widget last updated at 0235 local time.I logged off then logged back in and shortly after the widgets began working again.

Rather than start a new post, I updated to the February security update on my pixel 8 pro and none of the widgets are working now. I've force stopped the app and logged off and back in with no luck.My next thing to try is clear cache and data, uninstall and reinstall and try again.
Edit: no luck clearing cache and data, uninstalling, rebooting, installing and logging in again. Widgets still aren't working.

@speedlever We are aware of this issue on Android 14 and our colleagues try to do their best to fix this. However, we are not able to replicate this on any of our devices so it is a bit difficult for us.

@Suty
That is unfortunate. And frustrating as a user. The widgets will work normally for some period of time, then they just quit working for unknown reasons.I have widgets running for other apps without issue.

Update. This morning all windy widgets were black and I decided to log out of the app, then went into my apps and deleted cache and data. Went to the home screen when I have the windy widgets and they were working again.I tweaked the opening page from wind to weather radar, everything else was already as I desired, logged back into the app and the widgets are running fine.
What a mystery!

@speedlever Thank you for further info. There is probably something in settings of these devices that affect the functionality. I will forward this to colleagues.

@Suty
I just restarted my pixel 8 pro and the widgets are broken again. They just show a black screen where they should be. Refresh button does not come up.I've logged off and back on, deleted cache and data, and reset permissions but the widgets refuse to work.
Sigh. Here we go again. Eventually I'm sure they'll start to work again, but I have no idea what combo of fixes I try actually restore the widgets back to working order.
Edit: I deleted the widgets and recreated them and now they're working again. 🤦♂️
-
@speedlever Please try to wait some time after the restart. The widget update should kick within a few minutes.
-
How long is 'some time'? I gave it several minutes but nothing changed until I recreated the widgets. 🤷♂️
-
@speedlever Unfortunately it could be up to 30-40 minutes.

That seems rather excessive. I've left them for days with no luck. So they seem to need something more than time to recover. Ergo my attempts to find a way to get them running again.

Having the same issues. Just bought premium, widgets don't refresh unless manually updated, despite location and unrestricted battery permissions granted. Pixel 6.
