      Hi is anyone else preparing to use Windy for the Apr 8 2024 solar eclipse, to find the best spot a day or two in advance? I'm new to Windy. So far I figure the Low Clouds is a metric to watch, especially where the models agree it'll be a lower percentage. What else are y'all thinking?

        I see you didn't get any response. How are you using Windy to determine the best location?

          I suggest to take into account
          medium clouds too

            What is the best way to determine the sun's visibility during the eclipse? Just look at all the cloud layers? The Satellite view seems to show them the best, and the cloud setting doesn't seem to be very accurate since it said clear where I was today looking out, and it was pretty cloudy. I'm new to this app, thanks.
            timeanddate.com seems to be the best site for showing where the eclipse shadow will pass, FYI.

              @schminsk
              Satellite shows real time situation, not forecast.
              You must rely on forecast for low and medium clouds.
              High clouds are semitransparent, so you can see the eclipse through that.
              For eclipse shadow (and more data), i preffer https://science.nasa.gov/eclipses

                @Gkikas-LGPZ Thanks. Heading to Indianapolis, mostly high clouds there. Looks pretty lousy for much of the path of totality.
