      why is there a large difference in predicted precipitation in single windy forecast model between the three hour and one hour forecast?

        It is not a large difference.
        The reason can be explained : Windy displays only rain amounts of 0.1 mm and more. So if you have per hour 0.02 mm, 0.03 mm, 0.04 mm, these amounts will not be displayed in the 1h steps meteogram. But 0.02 + 0.03 + 0.06 = 0.11 mm. This value will be displayed in the 3h steps meteogram.
