What can we say if you don’t tell us what is your location.

I have location services turned on. My location is correct when I go into the app and is displayed correctly on my watch. In the picture I uploaded it displays Downtown Provo, which is where I’m at. When I go home it will change to that city, but the temperature will be off by about 11 degrees. Even when I pull up the app radar and go to my location, the temperatures will be wrong.

Do you use the Radar layer to know the temperature at your location ? This layer does NOT show the air temperature
at 2 m high as it should be observed.
Or do you use the radar word for another meaning ?
There are several location named Provo, could you say more precisely where it is? Is it in Utah ?

I’m pretty sure I’m using the temperature one. I’m in Provo City in the state of Utah (there’s only one). I don’t know if you’ll be able to see the picture I pasted below. It’s a screen shot of the app on my phone, with the crosshairs on my current position.

The temp information on the map is correct (it says 24 degrees) but the chart below on the 0800 hrs position reads 11 degrees, and the readout on my watch is reading the 0500 hrs reading of 9 degrees.

I’m probably doing something wrong. Do I need to do something to get the chart on the bottom of the screen to show the temperature that’s displayed on the map, and in turn, have that information displayed on my watch?

I appreciate you responding and trying to help me out.

              Thanks for the screenshot.
The main reason for this lack of accuracy in temperature forecasts is likely due to the fact that Provo is surrounded by mountains. The default model in Windy being the ECMWF model has a resolution of 10 km. This means that the temperature is interpolated between points in the mountains, resulting in lower forecasts.
Using the Observation vs Forecast feature on the website, you see that Meteoblue and HRRR give better forecasts compared to the Provo Airport weather station.

Try using these models to predict the temperature. They offer better accuracy for temperature in your location.

Note that Meteoblue is only available in the forecast table.
The Observation vs Forecast feature is also available in the mobile app, but not that comprehensive.
The temperature error is expressed in °C and not °F but you understand that the lower number is the best.

Thank you for your response. You’ve been educating and informative. I checked out the meteoblue and the HRRR and you’re right. Those forecast models seem to be really accurate for where I live and work, down in the valley. Unfortunately Windy.com won’t let me change either of those to a default setting. I went into settings, and went to “start-up layer and location” but could not select “Use last overlay” (which I think might keep my previous selections) because I’m not a premium subscriber.

I played with the ECMWF model and you were right there too. It includes a large portion of the valley into the same weather category as the mountains, which are always cooler (even in the middle of summer).

I don’t suppose you know how to set a different forecast model as a default, without a premium subscription?

You are right. For a free user there is no way to set another model as default model. So you need to select the right model each time you open Windy.
The easiest way is probably to do it in the forecast table.

Hi, i totally understand the Problem with Provo. For me it's quite similar with Klösterle in Austria. The Temperature forecast is way Off. Actually the shown temperatures are of No real use and i have to Switch to any cheap weather App, that's making much better predictions (No Matter which model used)
Isn't there a way to calculate a compensation for the predicted values?! Altitude of my Location is well known, compared to the ecmwf average altitude IT should bei able to fix.
I'd Imagine many Users are struggling with this Problem. Temperature forecasts are really Importamt to be as accuarate as possible.
