Numerical models from Central Weather Administration, Taiwan
-
Hello Windy group:
Taiwan's Central Weather Administration (CWA) has opened their numerical models data and now put them on the AWS s3 bucket. See following link.
https://registry.opendata.aws/cwa_opendata/From CWA's document, the regional model is based on WRF and there're 2 different domains , 15km regional model (M-A0061) and 3km regional model (M-A0064), and they are put under
s3://cwaopendata/Model/
directory, All of them are grib2 format. CWA update then 4 times a day and the forecast time is up to 84 hour with 6 hour interval.Currently, there is no regional model on Asia in windy, hoping this one can be the first high resolution model on Asia. :)
Data reference: https://opendata.cwa.gov.tw/opendatadoc/Model/M-A0061.pdf (Some of words are Chinese but all of the information are English)
Bests.

@onepunch Hi, thank for suggestion, colleagues are already aware of this model for Asia, however, I am not able to tell you now more.

@Suty Hi, thanks for your response. Maybe there is no plan for this data, but I still look forward to see it in windy in the future. Since there are lots of mountains in Taiwan, high resolution model is better than global model. ☺️

Hi @onepunch, of course, we feel the same.
We're planning to investigate CWA model you provided in the very near future. If it works for us, we'll add it in one of the upcoming releases.
