We are premium Windy users and it is one of our preferred tools for creating a route for our sailing adventures, setting the boat and average sailing speed to help with planning and we also use it when on a passage.
It is great, but the one improvement that we would find really useful is if the list displayed included the wave interval. On the screen we are using it shows the wind, gusts, wind dir and the wave height throughout our passage. But if the wave heights are above a certain height the thing that is critical to check is the wave interval. For us, if the wave height is above 2 or 3 meters it is the wave interval that we will use to determine whether we will continue the journey or take an alternative route, or even sit it out until the wave height and interval are at a level that we are happy to sail through. At the moment we look at the information listed and then have to exit the route and go to another screen to check the wave intervals.

Several sailors that we have spoke to agree that it would be a great improvement, so I wander if it is something that has been considered or perhaps there is a way of adding it to the list that we see on our route plan.

      Thank you
      Regards Si and Av

        Hi,
when you say “wave interval” in Route planner, I guess you mean the “wave period” (time between 2 wave crests) ? This parameter is available in Windy. The “wave length” (distance between 2 wave crests) is not available.

Personally I agree. The wave period would be much more useful in Route planner rather than the temperature that we don’t take care of it at sea because its variation is almost negligible and not useful for the navigation. It should be possible to replace the temperature line with a wave period line. Much more informative for sailors.

Example with a passage from Spain to the Azores :
