Frontal identification
-
Availability of 850 Wet Bulb Potential temperature would be a indispensable addition to the array of parameters already displayed. This would enable frontal discontinuities to be rapidly identified. A feature currently lacking. Quote ECMWF "850 hPa wet-bulb potential temperature is commonly used to identify air masses and a strong gradient of wet bulb potential temperature is indicative of fronts between two different air masses." The addition of this field is arguably more useful than the humidity field currently available, as this is a non conservative field. Here's hoping 🤞
