Widgets doesn't update.

Radar and wind widget doesn't update automatically and neither manually.
A few days ago the upper left corner refresh icon continues to spin and it consumed a lot of battery.
I also have a suggestion about the wind prediction widget. Could you make bigger arrows for the wind dirección. It's hard to see them properly. Thanks.
My device is a Samsung A53 with One UI 6.0.

@gtrabison Hi, can you please check this article about SW on Samsung devices, that can affect the behavior of our widgets? It could help to solve the issue.
-
@Suty I have followed what the article says but it still does not update. It is already spinning. I have Android 14 and Samsung S23. Thanks
-
@ToniSR Okay, thank you for checking. Our colleague, responsible for Android version of our app, is already taking a look at that issue. So hopefully there will be a solution as soon as possible.
-
Having exactly the same issue. My device is Motorola G200 5G, Android 12.
-
@Vobur Same here, Samsung S21 FE Android 14. Put Windy in deep sleep to have any battery left at the end of the day 😢, would appreciate a more elegant solution. Issue popped up since the last update v41.2.3
-
@mleender Can you please try to uninstall and install Windy back on your device and let us know if draining persists?
We know that issue must be solved on our end, however, it could help for now.

I've been experiencing the same in the past 2 weeks, my android device (Samsung S21 5G) is fully up to date with latest software/firmware etc. I have all permissions set correctly, there is no battery saving with the App (all turned off)
I have:
-
Cleared Data & Cache = this temporarily fixes the issue but does not last long
-
Uninstalled/Reinstalled the app = same as above
-
Reset the Widgets = same as above
-
Restarted the phone = same as above
Ultimately something is "stopping" the widgets from refreshing automatically after a short period and even manually refreshing does not work.
Android 14
One UI 6.0Thanks

@MarcG77 Thank you for checking all possibilities, I will forward the issue to colleagues.

@Suty
Hi, I follow on this thread as I experience similar issue. The widget went all dark, with the notification "Updating widget" always present in the taskbar, for hours, and battery usage was abnormally high for windy.
I removed the wigdets from my home screen, but the windy battery usage remained high. The app has all the correct permissions (battery, notifications, location,...)
I tried to reboot the phone, still unable to use the widget. My device is a Gigaset GS5, runing android 12, and I have the nova app Launcher.
Hope this can be solved soon.

@SebVanElsass With this specification and custom launcher, I am afraid that there is something that affects battery optimization in your system. Sometimes, on many Android devices, you can have full battery access, but there is another app managing this and that affects the widget behavior as well.
For instance, certain Samsung models with their OneUI have optimization app installed, that our widgets cannot detect, but it still affect the behavior.

@Suty
I tried also with the stock launcher, the same issue happens. So Nova is not to blame. I've been using Windy and its widgets for a while on this device without issue, so I doubt that there is a background process affecting it. Nevertheless, I've looked again deeply in all settings and looked for system app and could not find additional restriction settings that could affect windy behaviour.
I hope this can be solved soon.

@Suty ...and will it be fixed? I've been a loyal user forever....this is frustrating
-
I've noticed something else, every Saturday it stops refreshing automatically and I have to reset everything again. This is now the third Saturday it's fine the same thing, last update of the widget was at 04:15 and it's now 08:00.
-
@MarcG77 ...and again at 4:10am Sunday morning, there's something stopping them from refreshing.
-
@Lprusak We are working on the solution, however, I am not able to tell you the exact date.
-
@Suty Good to read that a solution is coming.
I am looking forward to being able to use Windy again,
I had to completely uninstall the app, because it was still draining battery even without Windy widget on the home screen, while other weather app widget work fine.Thank you.
-
Widgets update continuously, so my phone is hot
-
@gtrabison said in Widgets doesn't update.:
My device is a Samsung A53 with One UI 6.0.
I can confirm the exact same situation on Samsung M54 with One UI 5. Widget had been refreshing forever, and Windy the top app in battery usage. After uninstalling battery back to normal. Thanks.
Edit: as I've been using windy for quite some time and have followed last year's widget issues, I can confirm all permission were set as expected. Re-adding the widget or reinstalling the app sometimes fixes the issues for some time. Even removing the widget, the high battery usage remained, so I've uninstalled for now.

Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra, Android 14, OneUI 6. Confirming the same. The Widget stopped working and there was a huge battery drain, so I removed the widget, but Windy is still a huge drain on the battery - see the attached screen grab.
