Rainviewer's clever feature
-
I've noticed that Rainviewer has added a clever new feature that maybe Windy might implement in a future.
https://www.rainviewer.com/blog/new-layer-in-rainviewer.html
"What’s the secret? For the new layer, we get rain and snow data not from radar but from geostationary weather satellites (GOES-16). These advanced satellites can take infrared pictures of clouds and measure the temperature, height, and pressure of the cloud tops. The higher and colder the cloud with lower pressure at its top, the more likely it is to “spill over” its water content as rain or snow."
I know this feature as certain limitations but it's clever in compiling different data sources to display an outcome.
It's always interesting to see other weather service providers use of information.
I would love to see Windy implement clever "AI" features into Windy which would be alongside the main forecast models.
