I guess you are using the mobile app because the browser version did not change so much.

When clicking on your screen a picker (crosshairs) appears in a fix position. Wind speed and direction are displayed at top of screen. To change the position of the picker, just slide the map to place the picker where you want.

In Settings you can change how long the picker stays on screen.

Then to get the detailed forecast at the picker position, click on Forecast for this location.
