      Hi,

Is there any way to overlay the path of totality over the map for the April 8 total solar eclipse in North America? Weather will play a huge role in the visibility, and right now I am having to look at Windy, look at an interactive map of totality, and try to line up cloud coverage with places that are still within the path. Is there any way to add a widget to just show the eclipse track as a layer?

      Thanks.

        Hi,
You could import a KML, GPX, … file of the track, only in the browser version menu.

@idefix37 Thank you so, so much!! I downloaded and imported the KML and see the path now. This is extremely helpful!

@idefix37 Help! I’m new to this KLM upload process. Is there a link for the overlay? Or is that the overlay posted in this thread?

Or is there a clean arch of the path to overlay? Is the dark gray arc a KLM file somewhere?
              Thanx,
              Bruce Christianson

This is a file that you get from the Uploader tool in the web version menu.

                6D92393C-51BE-4735-9C30-18F5C28CFA1E.jpeg

Scroll down the list of files, at the moment there are 2 about the eclipse. Check them because they are made by Windy users, not by Windy.

Click on download symbol(1) to get the selected file in your library.

Once you have it in your library, click on (2] to transfer it to your selected layer (Clouds, Low clouds, Medium clouds…)

@idefix37 Yeah, the user uploaded KMLs have been very helpful.
There's one that even shows the centerline of the eclipse, which is wonderful.

Quick question - are you aware of any way to get this same functionality on the app?
I didn't see any uploader on the app.
I prefer doing all the planning on my desktop, so the web version works great, but on Monday I will be out in the field, and it would be amazing to have this path overlay if I need to make last minute adjustments and drive somewhere for a break in the cloud cover without leaving the path of totality.

No the Uploader is not available in the mobile app,
But now on tablets you can access the browser version, not with smartphones.

@idefix37 Android phones do have ability to go to the desktop in Chrome browser. Perhaps this is an alternative for in the field for you?

Thanks but I don't need it as I'm not in the area where the eclipse will be visible and I get the web version.
But it may be interesting for @ignasm

These eclipse KML's are not on the "Latest files from Community" page any longer.

I have no idea where they are. Can someone explain? I looked around on these forums but couldn't find them.

You need to scroll down the list. There are several files.
