IOS bug: Display all times in UTC
-
When I enable "Display all times in UTC" in the web browser it correctly shows the UTC time next to chosen local time. In the IOS app however the UTC time does not change with local time as I move the time slider. If I first click the play/animate button, it starts responding, though.

@steinardo HI, can you please tell us what version of Windy and iOS you have? I tested the UTC time in timeline, forecast details with 3h and 1h step and it is okay. Also, could you please share the screenrecording so we can better understand the issue?
-
Latest IOS and Windy as of today. I have a sceen video showing it, but don’t see an option to upload it here.
-
@steinardo There is an "Upload file" button in the message editor.
-
Yes, but not for videos. I have added 2 screenshots showing before/after moving time slider.
-
@steinardo Okay so manual moving is the issue, animation works, am I right?
-
Yes and no. Animation works until you move it manually again, then it freezes.
-
@steinardo Can you try to reinstall the app please? I am trying to replicate the issue, but it is working normally on available iOS devices.

@Suty Hey Suty, I am having the same issue. It seems to happen when the crosshairs are on something, like an airport, where, in this case it is displaying the METAR along with the forecast visibility. I am using iOS 17.6.1 and Windy v42.5.5. This is happening whether the time slider is manually moved or being played. I know it is hard to see the UTC time. I took a video initially, but the file size was too large, so I took screenshots of the video. Thanks for taking look.
-
@E-Talley Okay, so the UTC time is stuck when you manually move the timeline or even with the animation?
-
@Suty Yes, in either mode, manual or playback the UTC time freezes. However, if I move the crosshairs so they are not over an airport that triggers a dialogue box at the top of the page, the UTC time will eventually start working again, both when manually advanced or advanced using playback.
It just seems that when there is information in another field being displayed at the top of the screen, the UTC time will freeze.
I did a comparison on the web-based version of Windy (v43.0.2) as well as the Android version (v42.5.3) and that problem does not seem to be present. Only on Apple Devices.
Thanks again.

@E-Talley We will release the same version now for Android and iOS devices, could you please check that there as well? It should be v.43.0.2
-
@Suty The UTC bug is still present with v43.0.2. I may have a video of it and will post it after we ensure it was taken from v43.0.2.
-
@E-Talley Video would be perfect for colleagues, so they can better investigate and fix the issue in our apps.
-
@Suty, here you go. I have set permissions to anyone with the link is able to view.

@E-Talley Could you please try to turn the UTC time in settings off and on? I am sorry, but I am still not able to replicate this.
