@Aziztibba That issue with dropdowns will be fixed as soon as possible. Thank you for reporting it.

@SR-71A Hi, I know that this change can be confusing now, but we wanted, mainly, to provide one main menu to all users on the desktop, instead of one menu on the left side and the second one on the other.

        • Regarding to layers gallery, we offer preview, name and also the icon of the layer now.
        • If you want to use only certain layers, you can prioritize them and pin to the top only these, you want to use.
        • Fonts are bigger, since there were many requests for that.
        • Forecast models are still on the same position, it the bottom right corner.

why would one change the UI before make sure all (or at least most) OLD features are unaffected and available?
I prefer working features vs fancy looking useless UI.

@damanyou @GrigoryA We wanted to remove the whole plugin system, but there were many requests to keep it in Windy. So we updated the system and it should be now much easier to manage these plugins by their developers. However, we can't still wait for all developers with every update.

Big thumbs down for the new layers menu for desktops. Doubt I will be subscribing again.

just make yourself windy-2 and experiment there.
When you will see how many people are willing to pay for it... A/B testing - have you heard about it?

I.e. from your answer I can see you have no idea why people use (or rather did use) windy, what they liked and why are willing to pay for it.

@GrigoryA Also, regarding the plugin system, we informed all developers of them 2 months ago about the new implementation.

Agree with Demetris. The pictorial icons don't add value. They make the interface more difficult to navigate. Please return to the old format.

                        • Sounding and skew-T diagram is part of core Windy functionality for a long time. If alternative sounding plugin will not appear we can enhance our core sounding to match its functionality
                        • Expert mode is now DEFAULT (you do not need to activate it)
                        • New plugin system is state of the art and is NOT compatible with old system. It can not be compared to old system which was barely usable.
                        • We gave 2 months for plugin developers to rewrite their plugins.

The new interface is extremely confusing and limited. I used to have all my favorite layers neatly organized by sections (Temperature, Precipitation, Air Quality, etc.) Now it's just a limited list of icons with less than half of my go-to layers and no structure.

Please revert back to the desktop-friendly version, which is what I am (gladly!) paying for.

I AGREE, I ALSO DO NOT LIKE THIS NEW FORMAT.
ALSO HATE THE CAMERA FORMAT, IT BLOCKS OUT TO MUCH OF THE AREA YOU'RE LOOKING AT, AND YOU HAVE TO ZOOM IN JUST TO GET THE REST OF THE CAMS.

Not a fan of this change, can we get an option to revert back? Also, it seems they locked aerial view to premium now, why would you just take away something basic like that?

@SR-71A I totally agree. The little picture images are a headache to interpret. So much easier before. Please go back

After having gone again to pin everything I used to have in my layers menu, here's what I get:

                                  windy_unusable_menu.jpg

Not only do I have no idea what's what, but it spontaneously removed text and became 2 rows when I clicked one of them. Also, they are in a seemingly random order, i.e. wind related layers are no longer grouped together.

This tool I rely on every day extensively to plan my travels is no longer usable. It is irresponsible to force users into this without warning.

@boohooey Regarding to webcam previews, you can turn them off in the menu, where you turn webcams on. cc476da0-243e-49b8-bbd9-186b2791d63f-image.png

Agreed here, not a fan at all of this new UI. First time commenting from a long time user and doing it specifically because I detest this new UI on desktop and it makes things less intuitive and more difficult to navigate.

At very least could you include a toggle option under settings to continue using the legacy dropdowns without the pictures?

Completely agree, I am not a fan of the new layout. I use this daily for my job and it's so hard to use now. Also, with pinning the layers, if I have to refresh the page all the pins go away. I have to then re-pin everything again. Waste of time.

@Suty It would be really nice if there was a way to have a "compact" option for the menu. Being able to change font sizes and remove the images for layers to create a text based experience would be incredible.

These menus take up a ton of space on the screen when they swing out, making it really hard to change between layers while also viewing the map (mostly on mobile). Desktop has much more space, but same principle, a lot of screen space is consumed by these large menus compared to a compact text menu.

I know several threads existed where people left the same kind of feedback when this design was rolled out to mobile initially.

Are there any plans to create a more compact layout option? Or is there a more appropriate way to suggest that feedback?

                                            Thank you.
