Not a fan of this change, can we get an option to revert back? Also, it seems they locked aerial view to premium now, why would you just take away something basic like that?
-
@SR-71A I totally agree. The little picture images are a headache to interpret. So much easier before. Please go back
-
After having gone again to pin everything I used to have in my layers menu, here's what I get:
Not only do I have no idea what's what, but it spontaneously removed text and became 2 rows when I clicked one of them. Also, they are in a seemingly random order, i.e. wind related layers are no longer grouped together.
This tool I rely on every day extensively to plan my travels is no longer usable. It is irresponsible to force users into this without warning.
-
@boohooey Regarding to webcam previews, you can turn them off in the menu, where you turn webcams on.
-
Agreed here, not a fan at all of this new UI. First time commenting from a long time user and doing it specifically because I detest this new UI on desktop and it makes things less intuitive and more difficult to navigate.
At very least could you include a toggle option under settings to continue using the legacy dropdowns without the pictures?

Completely agree, I am not a fan of the new layout. I use this daily for my job and it's so hard to use now. Also, with pinning the layers, if I have to refresh the page all the pins go away. I have to then re-pin everything again. Waste of time.

@Suty It would be really nice if there was a way to have a "compact" option for the menu. Being able to change font sizes and remove the images for layers to create a text based experience would be incredible.
These menus take up a ton of space on the screen when they swing out, making it really hard to change between layers while also viewing the map (mostly on mobile). Desktop has much more space, but same principle, a lot of screen space is consumed by these large menus compared to a compact text menu.
I know several threads existed where people left the same kind of feedback when this design was rolled out to mobile initially.
Are there any plans to create a more compact layout option? Or is there a more appropriate way to suggest that feedback?
Thank you.

@Suty
About your new UI, as we say in french "le mieux est l'ennemi du bien" which I could translate by "the better is the enemy of good".
The new left menu with these Christmas balls are unreadable. Give me back the icons and the altitude slider ! -
@Suty this is the worst development yet, it sucks balls sorry. The other gripe I have is that the zoom function is now hidden as I choose to view mostly wind an rain along the bottom panel with the ability to zoom in and out as I wish. I can no longer do that as zooming is hidden below the panel. Can I revert to the previous UI which was simple to use and effective?
-
@Suty Can we please get back the static altitude slider (desktop)?
-
I can only support Demetris comments, I also think those beach balls are a great disadvantage compared to the earlier menus.
(1) The beach balls pop up in a random order and are not anymore ordered like the previous submenus. You could put 3 different items that which would appear when you click "Rain" or " Wind" or "sea temperature" which would pop up when you hit the major icon.
Now, it became difficult to spot even the icons previously activated. As an older person, I (and many others) cannot discern patterns in tiles or beach balls easily and those are much inferiour for easy recognition compared even to alphabetical tables or a restricted number of contatn items with submenues of related items.
(2) The beach balls are a major distraction and luckily do comply to the Windy appearance on the mobile (for lack of space). The color design does not help at all in recognizing anything.
(3) What does the aircraft symbol do and how do you disable ist? -
New menu with icons instead of text is HORRIBLE!!! All the icons looks the same which was not the case with the text menu.
Also where is the altitude slider which I use all the time?
Go back to the previous layout or at least give us an option to do that.

The altitude slider is shown by a Plane icon.
-
On a small screen (iPad) with the new web UI you need to use it in portrait mode to see all icons.
Otherwise in landscape mode, the icons are NOT displayed with text. They are unreadable and the “Plane” icon is missing
-
Some features are nice, joining the menus helps but the new menu and the large horrible confusing colorful icon backgrounds are a waste of space. The grouping of icons are missing, what happend? A minimalistic grouped menu options should be a quick job for you to restore/add for desktop users
-
@idefix37 Thank you for reporting this, I already forwarded it to colleagues.
-
@rsjorgenamundsen Did you check group of layers, that sort layers in groups based on the topic?
-
Hi ! not happy at all with the new version of the desktop ! a computer is not a mobile phone, it is confusing. Please offer the possibility to have the choice at least. Here is a example of how it looks when you have geographics names near by the logos, not clear at all..
Thanks

@GrigoryA Also, regarding the plugin system, we informed all developers of them 2 months ago about the new implementation.
Dear @Suty,
Thank you, please can I ask for what is meant by "new implementation"?
The reason for asking is that it would be helpful to understand what support we can give Victor to have the plugin made compatible again soon.
Best regards Nigel
