I do NOT like the new interface :-(
-
Can someone provide the reasoning/advantages please with the change to the forecast parameter structure????
Where is the benefit of using symbols as opposed to the previous listing structure which had the "advanced feature" where I could tailor which elements I wanted access to?
DO NOT LIKE the new format........

I do not like it either, commenting for support lol

@stitch Hi there, thank you for your feedback about the new interface. I think that the new interface still allows user to fully manage the gallery of layers as they could in the previous version. Also you can orientate in the gallery with previews, names and icons of certain layers, and also group of layers based on the topic of layers.
-
Agree - I also do NOT like the new layout. How can I, when displaying a route, switch between the layers that are displayed "behind" the route? E.g., switch between wind and gusts, tidal currents, currents, etc.?
Maybe I need to get used to it, but so far I do not perceive the new layout as intuitive and whenever I try to change what data is displayed to a data model not displayed in the "icon-presets", my planned sailing route disappears.

Found a solution: when you go into the full menue and hover above the individual parameters (wind, wind gusts, currents, etc.) you can click a little button to pin this parameter to the favorites. HOWEVER:
(1) only quite a limited number of favourites allowed before others start to disappear
(2) If you'd still like to switch to a parameter only available in the full menue, the route does disappear
(3) favourites are displayed in the order added, which makes no sense content-wise... I now have wind somewhere on the bottom of the list, wind gusts somewhere on the top...Old format was just a lot clearer

@Suty Hello, in the web version I no longer see the indications regarding the various prediction models, where the time of the last update and when the next one is expected are indicated (they are still present in the app...) Thank you.
-
@alexci1 You can get this info here:
Also the time of the last update is displayed in the forecast detail at the bottom.
-
Nor me.
I don t usually respond to such changes but th is is awful.
Graphic symbols a real step backwards and whats happened to the Wind Gust option
which was previously sensibly nested under Wind. -
Also NOT a fan! It works on mobile but not on a desktop. The previous UI was much more usable.
You should do a mix of the two, with the drop down menus from the previous interface and the round images showcasing each filter in the drop down menu. -
@Suty
How? It is not working the way you are describing. -
@Phizy Hi there, what exactly do you mean?
-
This new interface sucks.
How do I remove the PM2.5 christmas ball from the list of layers?
How do I order the christmas balls on the screen the way I want them to be ordered?
Why did you hide the altitude selector?
-
where is the expert mode button?
go back to the old line of pictograms in a prechosen line on the maps, its irritating to have to check the menu on pc each time i want to change patterns, and the round images that has come instead of the symbols do cover more of the mapspace...this is a stupid solution...
reminds me of earthschools big jump to have a large menu that covered 1/5 of the screen, they made a choose button so now we might shift between small medium and large
give us the opportunity to choose and pick from the menu to line up symbols permanently at the map screen...
i might use ventusky or earthschool more after this downsizing of quality experiment done by windy et.co.
im dissapointed
best regards

This again?
Why does your team insist on not listening to user feedback....specifically about gallery vs list view.
Why does your team insist on gallery view and screwing up the clean utilitarian user interface. This is maddening.
-
The new format is not user friendly. It was much cleaner and easier with the old layout. The icons are useless and takes up space. Also I liked having all the selections I selected right there on the screen. I liked the expert mode selection. Please provide an option to choose the old format.
To put it very plainly I do not like this new menu at all.
-
This is terrible. Very hard on my eyes with the blending backgrounds. This is a really miserable idea. Did you ask your users (customers) before you implemented this change? At least give us the option between the new and old.
-
Windy has removed significant functionality with the new menu grouping. Previously it was possible to have the list view or chose the cluttered icon view in the layer menu, however now we only have the icon view.
Previously, I had all of the layer options in the list view on the right hand side of the screen, with similar items nested. Wind Gusts was under Wind. Various air quality options were under Air Quality, etc.
While I see a number of posts regarding pinning layers to the right hand side of the screen, there are major issues with this. It does not reflect anything like the old layer system.
- There are a very limited number of layers that I can pin. I cannot fit all of the layers that I want in the right hand column. Once I add a certain number, the layer names disappear, and the icons are not easily distinguishable from one another without a name. I can hover my mouse over them to display the name, but that means searching for the layer I want by hovering my mouse over each icon in turn.
If I add even more layers, the UI switches to display the layers across my screen, which then covers the great graphics Windy is known for and quite honestly is a terrible UI and user experience.
So I must remove most layers, but then going into the cluttered menu to search for the layers I want that I cannot pin, involves several additional steps that were not required previously
-
Similar layers are no longer nested or even grouped together. Pinning them, Wind is near the top, but Wind Gusts are several layers below, separated by other pinned layers that are unrelated to wind, such as Temperature, Clouds and Waves in my case.
-
Similar layers in the menu are also not grouped together, which mean I need to search for them. This involves opening the menu and clicking the Display More Layers option.
-
If I want Wind and Wind Gusts pinned, these take up two spots in the pinned right hand column, rather than being nested. It means I cannot fit in other layers I want quick access to that I had previously with the old nested menu system.
-
There is no way to reorder the pinned items.
Since Windy seems insistent going this route, please offer an option to have this new layout, or the previous nested and expert mode options. That way everyone would be happy and Windy could remain a positive user experience, as the new UI is terrible in my opinion.
-
@Suty are you a pilot? Where are the forecast model?
-
@Suty said in I do NOT like the new interface :-(:
@Phizy Hi there, what exactly do you mean?
The interface is not robust in terms of the option "pin to homepage". Items appear in semi-random order, no sorting capability, can't remove ones I don't want.
-
the new interface is a step BACKWARDS IMO
I miss the text menu and the in-build grouping of views (for example ceiling and view underneath clouds) ...
