I do NOT like the new interface :-(
-
This again?
Why does your team insist on not listening to user feedback....specifically about gallery vs list view.
Why does your team insist on gallery view and screwing up the clean utilitarian user interface. This is maddening.
-
The new format is not user friendly. It was much cleaner and easier with the old layout. The icons are useless and takes up space. Also I liked having all the selections I selected right there on the screen. I liked the expert mode selection. Please provide an option to choose the old format.
To put it very plainly I do not like this new menu at all.
-
This is terrible. Very hard on my eyes with the blending backgrounds. This is a really miserable idea. Did you ask your users (customers) before you implemented this change? At least give us the option between the new and old.
-
Windy has removed significant functionality with the new menu grouping. Previously it was possible to have the list view or chose the cluttered icon view in the layer menu, however now we only have the icon view.
Previously, I had all of the layer options in the list view on the right hand side of the screen, with similar items nested. Wind Gusts was under Wind. Various air quality options were under Air Quality, etc.
While I see a number of posts regarding pinning layers to the right hand side of the screen, there are major issues with this. It does not reflect anything like the old layer system.
- There are a very limited number of layers that I can pin. I cannot fit all of the layers that I want in the right hand column. Once I add a certain number, the layer names disappear, and the icons are not easily distinguishable from one another without a name. I can hover my mouse over them to display the name, but that means searching for the layer I want by hovering my mouse over each icon in turn.
If I add even more layers, the UI switches to display the layers across my screen, which then covers the great graphics Windy is known for and quite honestly is a terrible UI and user experience.
So I must remove most layers, but then going into the cluttered menu to search for the layers I want that I cannot pin, involves several additional steps that were not required previously
-
Similar layers are no longer nested or even grouped together. Pinning them, Wind is near the top, but Wind Gusts are several layers below, separated by other pinned layers that are unrelated to wind, such as Temperature, Clouds and Waves in my case.
-
Similar layers in the menu are also not grouped together, which mean I need to search for them. This involves opening the menu and clicking the Display More Layers option.
-
If I want Wind and Wind Gusts pinned, these take up two spots in the pinned right hand column, rather than being nested. It means I cannot fit in other layers I want quick access to that I had previously with the old nested menu system.
-
There is no way to reorder the pinned items.
Since Windy seems insistent going this route, please offer an option to have this new layout, or the previous nested and expert mode options. That way everyone would be happy and Windy could remain a positive user experience, as the new UI is terrible in my opinion.

@Suty are you a pilot? Where are the forecast model?
-
@Suty said in I do NOT like the new interface :-(:
@Phizy Hi there, what exactly do you mean?
The interface is not robust in terms of the option "pin to homepage". Items appear in semi-random order, no sorting capability, can't remove ones I don't want.
-
the new interface is a step BACKWARDS IMO
I miss the text menu and the in-build grouping of views (for example ceiling and view underneath clouds) ... -
@Phizy Can you please explain it in detail? If I pin some layers to the homepage, all of them are on the top automatically.
-
Agreed, it's awful now, how can we get the old look back. Drop those ridiculous emoji things, I don't need them nor want them. The least amount of clutter on the screen the better. And put the +/- back so I can adjust the size of the map and not affect the city I have opened. As it is, the map adjustment is covered by the city forecast. This is truly a huge step backward. It was perfect before for my Acer Chrome book, I can't be the only one who thinks this way. Will someone from Windy see this, if not, how does one tell them directly to go back to the old look???
-
@Coelacanth Hi, yes we see these feeedbacks and consider all potential changes. However, I have to tell you that is not planned to get back to the old version, but we think about adjustments to the new version.
-
It's hard to navigate quickly through layers, for example sometimes i need to check 'low clouds' or another type of satellite and the new process of selecting it makes it more 100% slower, plus every time i have to close the sidebar otherwise it takes 30% of map screen away which is a lot, maybe it's good for mobile or people that use only standard layers but not for others.
-
The new interface is terrible. It makes everything less usable. It may look nice to the eye of a graphical engineer. But from a user perspective it makes everything more confusing and more difficult to use. Please bring back the old version with a more text oriented interface, which not only offers a better readability, but also usability.
-
Please bring back the 'advanced feature' I like to see all my preferred layers available as a line of graphic icons - as before. Much easier to use.
-
Everything will be fine! People are conservative and have a habit to complain about new UI and features. Slowly will get used to it.
P.S. nothing offensive :) -
@Suty it's not fun anymore.
-
@WeatherMonk said in I do NOT like the new interface :-(:
I do NOT like the new interface - graphic symbols>no. Bring back the text interface please.
Could not agree more, the new just uses space better used for the maps Whose idea was this?
-
@Suty You should seriously consider planning to GO BACK to the useable version. Personally, I will not be using Windy any longer.
-
@dariusmil I think people will move elsewhere, I am.
-
@46er I completely understand that everyone doesn't have to like the new design on the first sight. However, I would recommend you trying to get used to it, since I think this is a real improvement.
-
@Suty this is called "eat or die"
