Recent UI changes are really backward

Hi, the recent UI changes are a real backward step, enough to make me consider stopping using it. For me before it was just a right click then I could get Wind or Clouds or Cloud Base or Precipitation - what I needed - but now it is multiple clicks and I can't get rid of icons I don't want like Waves.
E.g for me it is Aviation - if I click on the Aviation option most of it is there apart from one absolutely crucial thing - the wind!! This is vital - yet I have to deselect Aviation and select Wind.
Two of the most crucial things for aviation are (1) Wind and (2) Cloud base.
Yet trying to get both takes many more clicks - it's really clunky and awkward now.Please change it back! Or at the least, put Wind on the Aviation tab and allow the user to set these as the default icons in Settings and that then the Aviation icons appear (and not Waves - not much use for Aviation unless you are having a REALLY bad day)

Use the Pin selector to select / deselect the icons you want / don't:
It is true that the pictures as icons sucks, especially when you have many of them: they become just a colorful, disturbing blobs with no information. After a certain size, they should go away and be replaced with the old, scalable icons.

@Canne It's just such a shame that this is now a requirement to have a somewhat useful experience. All just to have a bunch of colourful blobs to get laymen's attention? I just don't get it. It's more work for desktop users and for what?
