I like windy.com. It is very helpful to me as a sea kayaker. However, I cannot wrap my brain around the colors shown on the map. Is there a correlation between map colors and wind speed? I am under the impression that I can glance at the windy.com map for a specific date and time and see the wind conditions. I know that I can see the wind and gust data in the chart at the bottom and that works fine. Is the windy.com map color-coded to wind speed? Thx.

If you look in Settings at Customise color scale, you see how this scale is built.
I customised the color scale in Beaufort degrees, but you can do it in other wind speed units.

You can do it with your own colors

Which wind speed units do you use? Are you familiar with Beaufort degrees?
