calculating rain fall with the radar image

Hi, the radar image allows to display an estimate of the current level of rainfall in mm/h for any given location. Is it possible to cumulate the data for a given location over a certain period of time (say 6, 12, or 24 hours ) in the past? This would be a real plus compared to historic data stemming from official meteo measurement sites.
