LOST AT SEA

My partner sailed from Hawaii to return to Canada, August 1st and has not arrived, he is over 3 weeks late and is now being searched for by the US Search and Rescue. Twice a day on his journey I checked the wind conditions on windyty to see what Paul may be facing...there was never any storms that were shown in this time up until September 20th approximately.....WOULD I HAVE BEEN MISLEAD INTO THINKING HE WAS MOSTLY FACING LACK OF WINDS? I would appreciate those with the knowledge of windyty to respond to me, thank you
